Just as the Do Not Call Registry freed Americans from telemarketers, a Do Not Mail Registry would give us the choice to stop junk mailers from violating our privacy, wasting our time and damaging the environment.

Dear Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi; Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid:

Five years after the national Do Not Call Registry became the most popular consumer rights bill in history, citizens still face a different form of harassment: junk mail. Every year, Americans receive about 105 billion pieces of junk mail like credit card offers, coupons, and catalogs -- that's 848 pieces of junk mail per household. Even though 44% of that mail goes to the landfill unopened, we still spend eight months of our lives dealing with it all.
 
Junk mail is more than just an annoyance; it's an environmental crisis. Every year, junk mail production destroys 100 million trees, creating global warming emissions equivalent to the emissions from nine million cars.
 
We deserve the right to protect our privacy and our time. We deserve clean air and forest protection. We, the undersigned, support the creation of a national Do Not Mail Registry to provide a simple and comprehensive way for us to say no to junk mail.

72919	November 21, 2008	Gisele Batista		, MD, US	it is outrageous because some of the one i have are treatment to me and would like federal officers to looked into the one I have. the mail I'm receiving are coming from an Organization in Oklahoma city. the mail I opened talks about gods. it state that I can not be happy unless i follow their gods. they are trying to play my minds and make me miserable. that is not right. i don't need any body trying to influence my mind. I have hard time understanding how can a church organization say that : If "you don't fallow my God you can not be Happy" this is a religious abuse. but I guarantee you that they fail me. this is their Address: Saint Matthew's Churches.P.O.Box 22148. Tulsa, OK 74121. Please investigate because I guess that this organizing is abusing innocent that fall into their hand. I received more then 60 mail from them. at first, i kept throwing them but after a while I started collecting them for prove. I'm willing to forward them to any federal officers interested to look what they are up too.
